In the Beginning ...

... God created the heavens and the earth. A few dozen centuries later, here I am (the "Mortal") writing my first post ever in my first blog ever, which I plan on slowly filling with a series of writings (the "Musings") on a variety of subjects. I will begin with a few brief points on why I decided to start a blog ...

• Writing helps clarify ones thoughts and beliefs and understanding of a subject
• A blog is a free and easy-to-use medium through which to publish these thoughts
• Publishing allows others to comment and provide confirmation and/or critiques of ideas, leading to discussion
• Discussion either strengthens my understanding or leads to correction my own or other's erroneous thinking and beliefs

At present I do not have any definite schedule or queue for future topics, which will most likely be somewhat spontaneous -- thoughts that occur during the week that I decide to examine in greater dept. The plan is to write up somewhat formalized posts (i.e. edited and expounded thoughts), although sometimes I may simply publish a brainstorming post with a stream or progression of thinking as it occurred to me. I am just a mortal and my thoughts and beliefs are subject to error. The main reason for starting this blog was to clarify my own thinking by explaining to others my understandings and beliefs about an idea or issue. Please comment and point out any errors in fact or thinking that you find in any of my musings (see the fourth bullet point above).
